n this study, we aimed to compare the effects of cisatracurium besilat and rocuronium bromide on neuromuscular block. After Faculty Ethic Committee approval, 26 adult patients from ASA l-ll class were included to the study. Patients were randomly divided into two groups. Anaesthesia induction was realized by 2mg/kg alfentanil + 5 mg/kg thiopental. Patients in group I (n:13) received 0.1 mg/kg cisatracurium, patients in group II (n:13) 0.6 mg/kg rocuronium for intubation. The maintenance of anaesthesia was done by 1-1.5 % isoflurane + 50/50 %, N2O/O2. Patients were evaluated by "Mallampati scale" before operation and by " Goldberg and Cromach scale" during operation for assesment of intubation quality. The onset of action (T95), duration of action (T25) and recovery time (T25-75) of neuromuscular blockade were recorded. Unpaired student’s t test and Mann-Whitney U test were used for statistical analysis (px0,05). There were no differences betvveen the two groups with respect to hemodynamics parameters, recovery time, quality of intubation and demografic datas (p>0,05). The onset of action and the duration of action of neuromuscular blockade were shorter in group II (p<0,05). IVe conclude that althought both cisatracurium and rocuronium provide sufficient cardiovascular stability and intubation conditions, rocuronium may be choosen at situations which is required rapid intubation.
