The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDII) enzyme levels were investigated tn this research for the diagnosis of tuberculous and bacterial meningitis (TBM, BM) for the prognosi.ss of cases. AST and LDII enzvmatic levels were estimated in CSF in 12 cases of TBM, 25 cases of BM and 30 control cases. In the control group the levels of CSF AST and CSF-LDII were estimaied as 5.95±2.59 IULL, 25.02±9.21 11.11L, respectively. in cases with 713M, the levels of CSF-AST and CSF-LDII were ohtained as 10,41±3.62 51.25±20.74 respectively. In the BM cases, the levels of CSF-AST and CSF-L1311 were estimated as 28.12±5.85 !Un-, 327.24±214.47 WİL, respectively. The CSF enzyğnatic levels of AST and LDII were increased significantly both in MM and BM cases a.ı compared with control group (p<0.001). Iri serial enzymcilic analysis (initial, 72 hours and 10 d,iş.v tater) it has been found that the BM cases showed significanily decreasing levels of the two enzşiğes (p<0.001) but the TBM CaSe.S showed nonsignificanily decreasıng levels of both enzymes (p>0_05). On the light of these findings, it is concluded that the serial enz-ymatic determinations ğiST and LDII iri CSI7 are helpfull in the diagnosis of TBM and BM in the prognosi.s of cases.
