The Investigation of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Antibodies in Renal Transplant Recipients and ilentodialysis Patients with Chronic Renal Failure

This study is performed in 57 renal transplant recipients and 57 hemodialysis patients with chronic renal failure in the Nephrology Division of the Department of Internal Mek-lif-...ine, University of Hacettepe School of Medicine and llemodialysis Unit (4- the Department of Internal Medicine, University of Selçuk School of Medicine_ Cytornegalovirus (CMV) IgM and 1gG antibodies were deterrnined in blood sarnples by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) rnethod in the Microbiology Laboratory of Selçuk University. 1,Ve compared the results with control including 50 healty individuals. We fourıd CMV-IgM seropositivity 56.14%, CMV- IgG seropositivity 100% in the renal transplant recipients and CMV-IgM seropositivity 24.56%, CM11-IgG se.ropotisivity 91.23% in the hernoclialysis patients. In control group, CMV-IgM seropositivity was 2% and CMV-IgG seropositivity 50%. The rates of CMV-1gM and Ig G seropositivity in the renal transplant recipients and hemodialysis patients with chronic renal failure were high and significant according ta the control group (p<0.01).
