İn this study, vve aimed to determine the measurements of anterior fontanel and the relation betvveen cranial morphology and anterior fontanel in prematüre and full term newborns. IVe vvere studied 60 prematüre infants (Male 30, Female 30) who vvere aged betvveen 34 and 37 post menstrual vveek, and 60 full term infants (Male 30, Female 30). İn ali cases, head circumference, head length, and head vvidth vvere measured. From the corner points of anterior fontanel, transverse vvidth and sagittal length of anterior fontanel vvere measured. Average of diameter of anterior fontanel and anterior fontanel area vvere calculated in the ali cases. The measurements of cranial parameters vvere statistically significantly different betvveen prematüre and full term infants in vvhom it vvas greater than prematüre infants (p<0.001). There vvas no difterence in anterior fontanel parameters betvveen prematüre and term infants. There vvere statistically significant differences in birth vveight, length, head circumference and head length betvveen sexes in nevvborns, that it vvas larger in males than females (p<0.05). There vvere differences in sagittal length of anterior fontanel, average of diameter of anterior fontanel and anterior fontanel area betvveen sexes in prematüre infants, that it vvas larger in males than females (p<0.05). A significant positive correlation betvveen the gestational age and anterior fontanel dimensions (fontanel transverse vvidth and fontanel sagittal length) vvas found in prematüre male infants (respectively; r:0.27, r:0.43). Betvveen the measurements of cranium and anterior fontanel dimensions, significant positive correlation vvas found both of sex in prematüre infants (r: 0.67- 0.31). The average of anterior fontanel dimensions of prematüre and term nevvborn infants vvere found higher than those found in previous studies for both sexes. Knovvledge about normal variations in anterior fontanel dimensions can help in diagnosis of pathologies of cranial skeleton development.

The effects of starvation and refeeding on intestinal mucosa nere studied in ileum of rat intestine. Forty-two adult male rats nere used in this study. Animals nere divided into three groups. First groups of twenty-one rats nere starved for 1, 2, 3, 5, 9, 11 and 14 days. Second group of fifteen rats nere refed after a period of starvation and then decapitated after 1, 2, 3, 5 and 12 days. Third groups of three rats nere used as control animals. Starved rats nere alloned to drink nater ad libitum. Control animals had free access to nater and to chon pellets until the time of killing. Animals nere neighed daily during the fasting period. Animals nere killed under ether anesthesia. Ileal sections nere stained. Ileal villi size nere measured by ocular micrometre. After 3-day fasting, villi heigth nas observed to be gradually decreased nith days of fasting. Body neigth and after 3-day-fasting villi heigth gradually decreased nith days of fasting. Lymphatics nere dilated (5, 9, 11 and 14 day fasting), blood vessels nere fulled up nith erytrocyte at the long term fasting (9, 11 and 14- day fasting). Paneth cells and their granules nere gradually increased nith days of fasting. Ileal villus nere determined to height increased after refeeding. Paneth cells and their dense granules nere persistent.

Purpose: Cross sectional imaging technigues more widely available in the recent years for evaluation of pelvic and tubo-ovarian lesions. We discussed the primary contribution of these methods in the diagnosis of uterine masses in the patients with tubo-ovarian lesions. Materials and Method: IVe present 41 tubo-ovarian lesion with pathologic correlation. Transabdominal sonography, enhanced and nonenhanced CT seans were performed in ali cases. Moreover sagittal and axial T1-weighted as well as T2- vveighted, and fat-saturated unenhanced and gadolinium- enhanced MR images of the pelvic region. kVe compared our radiologic findings with histopathological results. Results: Three of 41 cases had corpus luteum eyst, 10 had eystadenoma, 7 had ovarian carcinoma, 7 had dermoid eyst, 4 had endometrioma, 3 had abcess, 2 had eyst hydatid, and 1 had ovarian fibroma on histopathological examination. Correct diagnosis was established in 33 (80%) out of 41 lesions with US, in 29 (80%) out of 36 lesions with CT scan and in 33 (83%) out of 40 lesions with MRI. Correct diagnosis was established in 33 (83.3%) out of 36 lesions with US, in 29 (77.7%) out of 36 lesions with CT scan and in 33 (86.1%) out of 36 lesions with MRI. Conclusion: Because of ability to detect invasion and in defining the extent of disease, MRI is better than sonography, and CT, and appears to be the modality of choice for evaluated of the pelvic masses. Although US pas potantial advantages and limitations, it should be preferred as the first method of searching for pelvic pathologies.

İn this study the seoprevalance of HBsAg, antiHBs, and antiHBc were investigated in the sera of the 214 nurses vvorking at the Selçuk University Medical Faculty Hospital. İn one sample (0.5%) isolated antiHBc seropositivity was found, liver function tests and HBV-DNA was negative for this nurse and she was put into vaccination programme, one month after the vaccination anti HBs was found positive. Two of the nurses (0.9%) were found seropositive for both HBsAg and anti HBc, liver function tests were normal so these two nurses were considered as carrier. İn 14 nurses anti HBs and anti HBc were found positive together and this condition was considered as remote hepatitis B infection. 194 Nurses who were negative for hepatitis B virüs markers were put into vaccination programme.

We discussed the primary contribution of US, CT, and MRI methods in the diferential diagnosis of uterine masses. Materials and methods: We evaluated the spectrum of US, CT, and MRI findings of the 15 uterine masses. Transabdominal sonography, enhanced and nonenhanced CT seans were performed in ali cases. Moreover, sagittal and axlal T1 weighted as well as T2 weighted, and fat-saturated unenhanced and gadolinium-enhanced MR images of the pelvic region. We compared our radiologic diferential diagnosis with pathologic diagnosis. Results: Seven of 15 cases had myoma, 3 had adenomyosis, 3 had endometrial carsinoma, and 2 had servix carcinoma. Correct diferential diagnosis was established in 11 (73%) out of 15 cases with US, in 12 (80%) with CT, and in 13 (87%) with MRI. Conclusion: MRI is the imaging method best suited for evaluation of uterine lesion than other imaging technigues. Since ultrasonography allows deiiation of the uterine masses in at least two scanning planes, this method should be preferred as the first method of searehing for uterine lesions.

İn this study the seropositivity of antiHA VlgM and IgG, HBsAg, HBeAg, antiHBe, antiHBs, antiHBdgM, antiHBc and antiHCV were investigated in the sera of 96 staff working at the kitchen of different goverment departments and 100 healthy people. İn the sera of staff vvorking in the kitchen antiHAVIgG was 93.7% (90/96) positive and in the control group 92% positive. AntiHAVIgM was found negative in ali of the staff and control group. The seropositivity of HBsAg, HBeAg, antiHBe, antiHBc and antiHBs were found as 5.2, 2.1, 3.1, 17.7, 14.6 % respectively in the control group these markers were found 7, 7, 0, 27, 34 % respedively. AntiHBdgM was negative in al! of the sera. Anti HCV was found positive at one kitchen staff and at the two person of the control group. For the staff who were negative for hepatitis A and B virüs markers a vaccination programme was planned.

The influence of adenoid hyperplasia on occurence of serous otitis media(SOM) has been discussed for many years. Previously, it was thouhgt that the size of adenoid lead to serous otitis media, but recently its infective property is accussed. İn this study, Adenoidal-nasopharyngeal ratio(ANR) was found (means 0.74+0.08) in 100 children who undergone adenoidectomy operation, and also the relationship between ANR and SOM was investigated. There vvas not any statistically significant relationship betvveen ANR and SOM(t=0.06, P>0.5). At same time, there was not any statisticallysignificant relationship betvveen ANR and meadle ear pressure(t=0,06, P>0,05).

A patient presented with a gunshot injury to his left shoulder. On his examination, there were no symptoms or signs except an entrance hole in front of his left shoulder. There was no bullet exit hole. Radiologic examination revealed a left clavicular fracture and a dense image suggestive of a metal at the distal portion of the right clavicle just in front of the right glenohumoral joint. İt is very interesting and unusal that a bullet tracing its way from the left shoulder to the right vvithout damaging any internal organ, vascular structure and nerves.

This report represents an original case of testicular sperm extraction (TESE) in a patient with impending anorchia. Testicular sperm was retrieved and frozen from the solitary testis with seminoma.

We present a human chorionic gonadotropin producing testicular seminoma case which was discovered during infertility evaluation. Although sperm count and motility were normal, postwash sperm swim-up results were poor that returned to normal after orchiectomy.

A case of pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis involving only the ileum is reported with clinical, radyologic, histopathological and operation findings by the review of the literatüre.
